Trader Insight: A Veteran’s Perspective on the SwingArm Journey

This reflection comes from a long-time trader who has used the SwingArm system since its earliest days in the ThinkOrSwim “thinkscript” community. His message captures the core truths of what it takes to succeed with this system — and in trading overall:

One of the most common tendencies in trading is the desire to let others do the hard work while we hope to simply benefit from the outcome. That mindset might work in other areas of life, but it doesn’t apply to trading.

Trading demands a deep understanding of what’s really happening — and that understanding must be coupled with the ability to manage emotions. If a trader doesn’t fully grasp the quality of an entry, chances are, the trade won’t end well. No matter how advanced a system is, every trade still needs to be managed actively by the trader.

What makes the SwingArm different is that it takes care of 90% of the complexity through automation. The remaining 10% comes down to the trader’s ability to interpret the system and act with discipline.

You can be successful with minimal understanding at the start — if you follow the recommended settings, avoid manual interference, and keep emotions out of the equation. Let the system do what it’s built to do.

This has been an incredible journey. We’re at the final stretch to seeing even more success. The key? Patience. And a relentless commitment to learning.
